Why Private Lessons for Kids

The Fastest Way for Juniors to Build Real Technique

Private tennis lessons give your child 100% of a certified coach's focus. No waiting, no adjusting to the group — every drill, every correction is directed at them.

01

Built Around Your Child

Every session is planned around your child's age, level, learning style, and goals — not a shared curriculum designed for a group.

02

Full Coach Attention

100% of the session focused on one player. Bad habits get corrected immediately instead of being reinforced through repetition in a group.

03

Faster Improvement

Focused private training gives junior players more time to correct foundations early, refine technique, and accelerate development.

Lesson Formats

Choose Your Child's Format

1-on-1 or bring a friend. Both formats give your child dedicated coach time and a session tailored to their level.

Format 01

1-on-1 Private

The full session is your child's. Maximum repetitions, maximum feedback, maximum improvement per session. Best for players with specific technical goals, those returning after a break, or tournament-focused juniors who need focused preparation.

Format 02

Semi-Private (2:1)

Two junior players share one coach. Great for siblings, school friends, or players at similar levels who learn well together. The coach works both players through drills and alternates feedback throughout the session. Lower cost per player.

Who It's For

Private Lessons for Every Age & Level

Our coaching adapts to where your child is — from a 3-year-old picking up a racket for the first time to a 17-year-old competing in USTA tournaments.

Ages 3–5

Mini Red

Shorter courts, softer balls, age-appropriate drills. Focus on fun, coordination, and getting comfortable on court.

Ages 6–11

Junior Development

Technique foundation: ground strokes, serve, volleys. Footwork, consistency, and introducing point play and competition.

Ages 12–17

Junior Advanced

Tactical tennis: pattern play, serve+1, reading opponents. Preparation for high school teams and USTA tournaments.

Any Junior Age

Tournament Prep

Competition-specific training: match simulation, mental game, scouting opponents. Tailored for players entering or active in the junior circuit.

Right for Your Child If…

Private Junior Lessons Work at Every Level

Beginners benefit from having correct technique built from day one before bad habits form. Intermediate juniors break through plateaus faster with focused one-on-one attention. Advanced and competitive players use private sessions to sharpen specific shots and prepare for match play between tournaments.

  • New to tennis and wants to learn correctly from the start.
  • Returning after a break and needs to rebuild their game.
  • Playing group classes but wants to improve faster.
  • Preparing for USTA junior tournaments or school tryouts.
  • Needs a flexible schedule that fits around school and activities.

"Mher and Oleg do a great job working with my daughter. She's improved more in 3 months at 3015 than in a full year of park tennis lessons. The structured curriculum is exactly what she needed."

Parent Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What age can kids start private tennis lessons?

We work with junior players starting at age three. Our Red Ball program uses smaller courts, lighter balls, and age-appropriate drills so young children build confidence and coordination from the very first session — not frustration.

How much do junior private tennis lessons cost in Glendale?

Private lessons are currently $90 per hour for beginners, $110 for intermediate players, $130 for advanced players, and $150 for tournament players. Current rates are also shown in the Rates section above.

How often should my child take private lessons?

Most junior players benefit from 1–2 private sessions per week, ideally combined with group classes for match practice. Your coach will recommend a frequency based on your child's goals, current level, and how quickly they want to progress.

Can my child do private lessons and group classes at the same time?

Yes — we recommend it for most junior players. Private lessons develop individual technique in a focused environment. Group classes build match instincts, competitive habits, and social play. They complement each other perfectly.

Does my child need to bring their own racket and equipment?

Loaner rackets are available so your child doesn't need equipment for the first session. We can recommend the right size racket for their age once they start training regularly.

Do you offer junior private tennis lessons near Burbank and Pasadena?

Yes. Junior players from Burbank, Pasadena, La Crescenta, and surrounding communities train at our Glendale courts at School St, Glendale, CA 91202 — a central, easy-to-reach location for the whole region.
